- The American Hospital in Turkey was founded in 1920 by Admiral Mark L. Bristol as the first non-profit private hospital in the country. Originally operated by the American Hospital of Istanbul Inc, it was later transferred to the Vehbi Koç Foundation, which invested over 300 million US dollars in renovations and improvements.
- The hospital moved to its current location in Nişantaşı and has grown to have 278 patient rooms, including 58 rooms for intensive care patients, 62 intensive care beds, and 12 operating rooms.
